Looking at a 1980s drywall price sheet from a yard in Tacoma

A single 4x8 sheet of half-inch was under three bucks back then. How do you even price a job to compete with that kind of inflation history?

Ghost prices from forty years ago" is everywhere, not just drywall. It's why my dad still thinks a movie ticket should cost five bucks and gets mad every time we go. That old number just gets stuck in your head for good.

How do you even explain that to a customer now? I mean, you'd have to show them a chart or something and they still wouldn't believe you. Makes me feel old just looking at it, and I wasn't even buying drywall back then. Trying to compete with ghost prices from forty years ago is a losing game. Maybe we should all just start quoting in 1980s dollars and see how that goes over.
