Cutting corners on hose inspection blew my budget

Our old dairy barn had the same problem with those cheap plastic couplings. We lost a whole morning's milking when a main line let go at 5 AM. Now I use a bright orange grease pencil to mark every hose I check on Monday mornings. It feels silly but seeing those marks forces me to actually look at the wear spots. That one habit saved us from another huge cleanup last month.

Man, that hits home. My buddy runs a car wash and had the exact same nightmare with his foam brush lines, just total spray down the bay at open. He got so paranoid he started using those cheap paint pens from the hardware store, the kind with the clicky tip, to put a little dot on every hose after he checked it. Sounds like a tiny thing, but he swears it turned a guess into a routine. He caught a hose that was just starting to feel soft last week before it blew.
