Old timer drafter told me paper drawings were better and I laughed at first

Met a retired drafter at a coffee shop last Tuesday. He said CAD makes us lazy because we don't check our work the same way. At first I thought he was just being old school. But then I remembered the last three revisions I did had basic alignment errors I would have caught on paper. Has anyone else noticed their eye for detail slipping since switching fully to digital?

Last Tuesday I literally drew a line 3 feet off because I was too busy clicking "snap to grid" without actually looking at the screen.

Snap to grid is like autopilot. You trust it too much. Before you know it you're aligning to the wrong datum and everything is 3 feet off. The old guys had to physically measure and think about every single placement. That mental check was built into the process. Now we just click and assume it's right until the boss catches it on the print.
