Unpopular opinion: Painting over wallpaper is a valid DIY hack

I skipped stripping the old wallpaper in my bedroom and just painted over it. Some people warn this leads to bubbling and peeling, but my walls look great so far. Is it ever okay to paint over wallpaper, or should it always be removed first?

It's the same with quick fixes everywhere, they look great until the real problem shows up.

Tell me about it. My old landlord did the cheapest cosmetic updates before showing our apartment, but the plumbing was a nightmare. It's like those home reno shows where they glue new countertops over rotten cabinets. The flashy cover-up never lasts, and you're left dealing with the same old mess.

Remember my buddy trying to fix a coolant leak with that heavy duty duct tape instead of replacing the hose. Worked fine for a week until the tape got soggy and blew off on the highway, lol. Left him with steam pouring out and a huge cleanup on the side of the road. Sometimes the shortcut just delays the bigger mess.
