Unpopular opinion: Skip the cheap caulk for bathrooms

Overheard a contractor at Home Depot say he redid a whole shower because the $2 caulk failed in 6 months. I used the same stuff and now my grout's got black mold behind it. Anyone else make this mistake and have a better brand to recommend?

Ngl I was Team Cheap Caulk for years, thought paying more was just a scam. But after seeing the black mold creeping behind my own grout, I finally swapped to GE Silicone 2 like xena's buddy. It's night and day difference, that stuff actually sticks and doesn't shrink up after a few months. Gotta admit, I was wrong thinking all caulk is the same, it really does pay to spend the extra couple bucks.

My buddy used the cheap stuff on his new bathroom and had to tear out the whole shower base six months later. He swears by GE Silicone 2 now, says it's worth the extra few bucks.
