Tried to fix a squeaky floorboard last Tuesday and ended up drilling into a water pipe instead

I was just trying to stop that annoying noise in the hallway of my 1950s ranch house in St. Louis, but now I've got a wet spot on the ceiling downstairs and a plumber coming tomorrow, has anyone else had a simple DIY job turn into a disaster like that?
