Everybody raves about cordless nail guns but mine failed me on a big trim job Monday

I was trimming out a 1,500 sq ft living room in Phoenix with my brand new 18-gauge battery gun and the thing jammed every 15 nails like clockwork. Has anyone else had better luck sticking with pneumatic guns for long runs or am I just unlucky with this one?

My buddy had the exact same issue with his cordless nail gun last summer. He was doing crown molding in his new house and the thing just kept spitting nails sideways. He finally threw it in the trash and went back to his old pneumatic gun. So you're not unlucky, I think those battery ones just aren't built for big jobs like that. I've used pneumatics for years and they never give me trouble like that. Maybe stick with what works for the big stuff and save the cordless for smaller jobs around the house.

Did you see that tool review site did a torture test on a bunch of cordless nailers last month? They ran like 500 nails through each one and the battery models all started jamming way before the pneumatics did. I mean, it makes sense when you think about it - those little motors just don't have the same punch as compressed air for pushing nails through hard wood all day long. Plus the heat here in Phoenix probably didn't help your battery either, those things overheat so fast in this weather. My neighbor had the same problem with his Ryobi on a baseboard job, went back to his old Hitachi pneumatic and finished the whole room without one jam.
