My uncle said to always use a primer before painting my bathroom... I skipped it to save an hour.

Two days later, the 'eggshell' finish on the walls started peeling off in sheets near the shower. Now I'm staring at a patchy mess and a $40 can of wasted paint. Do you always follow the 'extra step' advice, or have you gotten away with cutting corners before?

That "save an hour" line hits hard. I used to think all that prep work was for people with too much time. Then I tried to paint over a glossy door without sanding. The paint beaded up and slid right off, like I was using a water gun. Now I'm the guy cleaning walls for an hour before I even open the paint can.

Waste time now or later, miles_grant35.
