One comment about my wifi setup totally changed my workflow

Last month I was working from a co-working space in Medellin and someone noticed my laptop was constantly buffering during video calls... they pointed out I was connecting to the 2.4GHz band instead of 5GHz. I had no idea the difference even mattered. After I switched, my download speeds went from 15 Mbps to around 80 Mbps. Now I actually check router settings before settling into a new spot. Has anyone else learned a basic tech thing way later than they should have?

Five gig is a GAME CHANGER. Two point four is just too crowded these days.

My parents' router only had one band for years and I never questioned it. Then my tech friend visited and showed me the 5GHz channel with this little chart on his phone. I went from getting 12 Mbps in my bedroom to 55 Mbps. I felt so dumb for all those years of slow Netflix loading. It changed my whole setup without buying any new gear.
