A client comment about my internet setup changed how I work
Last month a client in Chiang Mai pointed out my video calls kept freezing because I was on hotel wifi while telling them I was a pro. They suggested I test my connection at 8am and 2pm before booking a place for more than a week. I started doing a quick speed test and now I only stay at spots with at least 20 Mbps upload. It sounds small but it cut my call failures by half. Does anyone else check internet twice a day before committing to a rental?
Ugh, yes, this is such a real thing! I got burned last year on a place in Bali that looked perfect but the upload speed was trash in the afternoons. Now I run a speed test three times a day before I book, and I also ask the host if they have a backup hotspot, that saved me during a storm once. It's crazy how much smoother my calls are when the upload is solid, I feel like half the battle is just knowing what you're dealing with before you commit.
