The client who wanted a blog post to rank for 'best pizza in Chicago' in 24 hours
Last Tuesday I had a call with a pizzeria owner who insisted if I just used the right keywords, Google would put him at number one overnight. He said 'I paid a guy $500 for a magic formula two years ago and it worked for a week, so why can't you do the same?' Has anyone else had a client refuse to believe SEO takes time and consistency?

I heard some SEO expert on a podcast say ranking is like building trust with Google, not buying a lottery ticket. That guy with the 'magic formula' probably just got lucky for a week before the algo caught on.

Honestly this is so true. A buddy of mine used some "guaranteed" SEO hack and shot up to page one for like three days before Google dropped him to page ten. Never seen a dude so bummed about a website before.
