A/B tested two landing pages for a month... the simpler one won by a landslide

I ran a split test between a flashy product page with tons of copy against a bare bones one with just the price and a buy button. After 30 days the simple page converted at 8.2% while the complex one only hit 3.1%. This was for a local coffee roaster in Portland and I'm still surprised people wanted less info. Anyone else seen minimal designs outperform detailed ones?
