Shoutout to the old timer who told me to use a zip tie on a stubborn injector line

Had a high-pressure line on a 6.7 Powerstroke that just wouldn't seat, and he suggested looping a small zip tie around the collar for extra clamp force. It actually sealed up and held for the 20 miles to the new part arriving. Anyone else have a weird one-time fix that actually worked?

Honestly, that zip tie trick is solid field engineering. Sometimes you gotta get home. @palmer.henry is right about the danger, but a tow truck can take hours and cost a fortune. That temporary fix got the job done with a careful eye on it. I've used a hose clamp on a weeping power steering line before to make it to the shop. Knowing the limits of a quick fix is what keeps you safe.

Glad you made it home but that's a scary fix. High pressure fuel is no joke. That zip tie trick is a band-aid on a bullet wound. Those lines can fail catastrophically and you're talking about a diesel fire. I would have just called for a tow. Some risks aren't worth taking for a twenty mile drive.
