I finally understood why my old boss at the shop in El Paso was so picky about injector torque
He made me redo the same injector job on a 6.0 Powerstroke three times, saying 'it's not tight, it's right' each time. After the third try, he showed me how a quarter turn too much could crack the cup and cost a whole weekend. Anyone else have a mentor who drilled one specific thing into your head?

That's a solid lesson to learn the hard way. It makes you wonder how many other small steps in a job have that kind of hidden cost if they're wrong. @lewis.diana, your uncle's brake line story is the same idea, just a different part of the car. Did your old boss ever explain why the torque spec was so critical on that specific engine, or was it just a blanket rule for everything?

Remember my uncle making me redo a brake line flare like five times until it was perfect. He kept saying "good enough gets people killed" which felt dramatic until I saw a failed line spray fluid everywhere. Some lessons only stick after you see the mess they prevent, lol.
