Had a guy at the truck stop in Bakersfield tell me I was overthinking a simple injector pull

I was swapping out a set on an old 6.7 Powerstroke in the lot, and he leaned over the fender to watch. After about two minutes he said, 'You know, you don't need all that fancy socket setup, just tap it with a hammer.' This was after I'd already got the hold-down bolts out clean. I told him I'd rather not risk cracking the nozzle, and he just shook his head and walked off. Ever have someone give you advice that would just make more work?

Tap it with a hammer" on a nozzle? That's a one-way ticket to a real bad day. I'm just picturing ceramic bits in the cylinder. Getting those bolts out clean is the whole win, why risk it for nothing?

Yeah, "ceramic confetti" is the perfect way to put it. Next they'll be telling us to just pour some sand in the oil for a nice polishing effect. It's like watching someone try to fix a watch with a sledgehammer. Some advice you just gotta laugh at and slowly back away from.

Tap it with a hammer" on an injector? That's insane. the_anna is right, you'd be asking for ceramic confetti in your cylinder. Some people just love to watch the world burn.
