Bad week turned around after one injector swap

Last Tuesday was a disaster. Tore down a 6.7 Cummins, found the #5 injector was the issue after 3 hours of chasing a miss. Then my air hose split and soaked my gloves in diesel. Customer showed up early, hovered, kept asking if I was done. But once I swapped that injector and fired it up, it ran smooth as glass. That instant fix made the whole week better. Anyone else have a job that went sideways but ended perfectly?

see I gotta push back on this one. sure the end result felt good but you burned three hours and a torn down motor before you even found the problem. that aint a win, that's just finally getting lucky after a bunch of wasted time and a pissed off customer standing over your shoulder. if you'd pulled the codes first or done a proper balance test you'd have had that injector swapped in twenty minutes and the rest of your week woulda been fine. the instant fix just made you forget how bad the process sucked. but hey if you're happy living on that adrenaline rush every time it works out, more power to you.

Yeah, the "adrenaline rush" part is real, but you're right about the process sucking. I've been there too, and now I always pull codes before I even pop the hood, it saves everyone the headache.
