The clearance sticker at my local Target lied to me and I only found out at the register
I grabbed a $12.99 throw blanket last week in Chandler that was marked down to $3.24 on the shelf tag, and when it rang up it came out to $9.99 instead. The cashier said the sticker was probably from a different size and there was nothing she could do at the register, so I had to go to guest services. Took 20 minutes but they honored the shelf price and gave me the blanket for under 4 bucks. Now I take a photo of every shelf tag before I check out. Does anyone know if that price match rule is a store policy or just depends on who is working that day?

A lot of states actually have laws about this. In California its called the pricing accuracy law and stores can get fined if the shelf price does not match the register. Arizona might not have the same rule but most big chains still honor the tag just to avoid the headache. The trick is that the shelf tag has to be the one for that exact item, not a swapped tag from another size. That is why the cashier tried to dodge it. Guest services usually just waves it through because fighting over six bucks costs them more in time than the blanket is worth.
