Bought a $40 'vintage' lamp that turned out to be a $9 curtain rod with a shade
Saw this listing for a retro brass floor lamp, looked perfect in the photo. Paid $40 plus shipping, waited 2 weeks, and it showed up as a bent curtain rod with a lampshade zip-tied to it. Anyone else get burned by one of those too-good-to-be-true pics on marketplace?

Did you check if that photo was actually pulled from a stock image site before you paid? A lot of those listings are just stolen pictures from retail sites, and the seller never even has the item. I got hit with something similar last year, a "mid century" chair that was just a folding lawn chair with spray paint. The trick is to reverse image search the photo on google before you send any money. If the same pic shows up on like 5 different listings or a department store site, walk away. Also, if the price is way below what the real one goes for, that's a red flag right there. You live and learn, but at least it was only 40 bucks and not something worse.
