Starbucks wifi taught me why I never use public hotspots for banking
I watched a guy in Portland log into his credit union over the Starbucks network last Tuesday, and I wanted to warn him but my own rule after a $220 fraud charge in 2019 is to assume every open network is sniffing for passwords, so has anyone here actually caught someone's data on public wifi or am I just paranoid?

Nah, that guy's just donating his account info to whoever's buying coffee next to him... Starbucks wifi is basically a public library for hackers at this point. $220 is a cheap lesson, mine was $340 and a new debit card with a sunflower on it.
