Showerthought: That hotel incident in Chicago made me rethink all my logins
Was staying at a Marriott in downtown Chicago for a work conference, and I connected to their "guest wifi" without thinking twice. Next morning, my work email showed 12 failed login attempts from a random IP in Russia. Turns out the hotel's network had a spoofed portal that looked legit. I always thought I was careful with public wifi, but now I use a VPN even on hotel networks. Every single time. Has anyone else gotten burned by hotel wifi and changed their habits?
