Just realized I was treating my cruise ship days like a to do list and missing the whole point
I was on the Carnival Horizon out of Miami in April and found myself stressed because I had 14 things circled on the daily schedule and only got to 5 of them. My wife looked at me somewhere near the lido deck and said why are you rushing on vacation. That hit me because I had been doing it every single day, running from trivia to the buffet to the show like it was a job. Now I just pick two things I actually want and let the rest go. Has anyone else figured out how to stop chasing the schedule and just chill?
Something about being on a ship makes it worse too, because you feel like you paid all this money and you have to get your value out of every hour. That trap got me good on our last one. What finally worked was ditching the schedule completely and just walking out the door with no plan, then letting my stomach or the nearest music decide where we ended up. Turns out the best parts were the stuff that was never printed on that paper, like sitting on the balcony watching the water with a cheap beer. Two things a day is honestly still one too many if you ask me.
