Bought the cheap $12 drink package upgrade on a 5 night Bahamas cruise and the bar staff treated me like a criminal
So last month I took a 5 night cruise out of Miami to Nassau and Half Moon Cay. I normally just pay as I go for drinks because I do not drink that much, but the guy at the terminal desk talked me into upgrading to the basic package for $12 a day. Figured why not, that is cheaper than two beers. First night at the pool bar I ordered a rum and coke and the bartender scanned my card and gave me this look like I insulted his mother. He poured maybe half a shot in it and moved on. Next three days it was the same thing at every single bar, tiny pours and long waits while people with the premium package got served first. I asked one bartender straight up if there was a difference and he just shrugged and said the basic package has a lower limit per drink. So basically I paid extra to get worse drinks and worse service than if I had just paid cash. I ended up buying rounds outright the last two nights and got normal pours again. Has anyone else run into this, where the cheap package actually makes the trip worse instead of better?
