Stopped by the old train station in my town and saw a story in the graffiti

I was walking past the boarded-up station on Maple Street yesterday. Someone had painted a huge, faded dragon on the brick wall, but right next to it, in fresh pink spray paint, was a tiny, perfect heart. It made me think, who paints a dragon and walks away? Who comes later to add a heart? That's a whole character dynamic right there, free for the taking. What's the best 'found object' prompt you've ever gotten from just looking around?

My buddy found a single, muddy work boot on a park bench once, laces still tied. He spent the whole walk home making up a story about the guy who just had to kick it off and keep running. Sometimes the weirdest little thing can spark a whole world, lol.

Totally get what you mean about the weird little thing sparking a world. I do the same thing, like @rowank69's buddy with the boot. Found a half-eaten sandwich on a bus seat once and invented a whole lunchtime escape story for the person who left it.
