Vent: I bought a cheap rigging sling online and it cost me a whole afternoon
Got a 'deal' on a 2-ton nylon sling from some no-name site for about $40 less than the usual brand. Used it on a pick at the old mill site in Springfield, and the stitching started to fray on the first lift. Had to stop everything, lower it gently, and send my ground guy to the supply house for a proper one. Lost about three hours of crane time, which is way more than I 'saved'. Anyone else have a story about a rigging part that just wasn't worth it?

Had a 1-inch polyester round sling from a bargain bin fail during a simple lift of some ductwork. The core yarns just snapped, no warning. Honestly, I just don't trust any sling now without a legit manufacturer's tag and a known test certificate. That forty bucks you save turns into a huge problem real fast.

Polyester round slings don't have core yarns though...
