Trick for leveling on sloped pads without a laser
Had a job on a sloped lot in Austin last week and my laser level kept throwing false readings from the sun glare. I tried pacing out reference points with a tape and string, which took forever, but then I used a plumb bob with a bucket of water as a dampener and the swings settled in 10 seconds flat. Has anyone else used water to steady a plumb line on uneven ground, or is there a faster way I'm missing?

Dropping a plumb bob in a bucket of water saved me too, way faster than a laser.
