TIL why my loads kept swinging on the stop, and it came from a 22 year old spotter
I was running a 60 ton at a job site in Akron last month and every time I'd stop a swing the load would drift a good foot past where I wanted it. I figured it was just the wind off the river and kept overcorrecting, which made it worse. The kid spotting for me finally said 'you're killing the swing before the load catches up to your boom, try letting off the brake softer.' I tried it on the next pick and the load sat down right where I pointed, dead still. Any of you older hands ever get schooled by someone half your age on something this basic?
