The load chart that lied to me in Kansas City
Found out last week that the chart in my old Grove manual was based on a boom angle indicator that was off by 1.5 degrees. That little error meant I was 4,200 pounds over my rated capacity at 80 feet and never knew it. Anyone else ever double check their charts against the actual machine readings?

That 1.5 degrees really sneaks up on you at 80 feet, no argument there. Did you check the angle sensor with a physical protractor or level once you realized the chart was off, or did you just trust the numbers until something felt wrong? Trying to figure out if the rig was always lying or if it drifted over time makes a big difference for how safe you can feel on the next job.
