Overheard a rigging quote at the yard that made me rethink my taglines

Stopped for fuel at the Steel City yard in Pittsburgh and heard a foreman tell a new guy, 'Your tagline is your third hand, treat it like one.' That stuck with me. I've been running cranes for 14 years and never once thought about how much I rely on the tagline for load control until he said it. Any of you guys got a simple phrase or rule that changed how you operate?
