My coffee break turned into a crane lesson for a curious kid

In my experience, you never know who might ask about the job. It was pretty cool to explain the controls to a young fan, even if it meant my coffee got cold.

Keep a few simple explanations ready for when this happens. I always let a kid try the horn button if the site boss allows it. That one sound makes their whole day. Yeah, your coffee goes cold, but seeing that excitement is worth it every time. It's how a lot of us first got curious about the job.

Remember hearing about a bus driver who did something similar last year. He let a kid press the door open button during a stop. The kid's face lit up like a Christmas tree. The driver said it made his whole route better, even if he missed his break. It's those small moments that stick with people. Makes you think about how easy it is to make someone's day.
