I thought pre-shift talks were a waste, but a scare proved me wrong
I mean, I always saw those morning safety chats as just another thing to sit through. I'd nod along but really be thinking about my first lift. Then last Tuesday, we were hoisting a concrete panel and I came inches from clipping a power line. The crew chief had pointed out its new location in the talk, but I totally tuned it out. That got my heart racing, I tell you. Now I actually listen and ask questions. It's crazy how much smoother things run when everyone's on the same page. Maybe it's just me, but I won't skip another one.
