Had a bad moment on a site in Tulsa when my load line started twisting hard
I was on a job in Tulsa last Tuesday, picking a 4-ton HVAC unit off a flatbed, and about 20 feet up the load started spinning slow. I caught it quick but the tagline guy wasn't ready and the unit smacked the side of the truck bed pretty good. I set it down easy, checked the rigging, and found the sling was twisted around the hook because I hadn't dressed it right. Nobody got hurt but the truck got a dent and I felt like an idiot. Anybody else had a load go sideways from something as dumb as a twisted sling?

Reminds me of how my youngest kid keeps tripping over the same spot in the hallway rug until I finally moved it. It's always the little things you overlook that end up causing the biggest mess. I see the same thing happen all the time with people rushing through their morning routines or skipping a simple step in a recipe because they've done it a hundred times. That twisted sling is just like that rug or a loose shoelace on a kid you didn't tie tight enough.

Eh, I kind of feel like you're reading too much into a twisted sling. Sometimes a strap just gets flipped around, you fix it in two seconds, and you move on with your day. Not every little hiccup is a deep lesson about rushing through life or overlooking important stuff. It might just be a piece of fabric doing what fabric does.
