My brother in law called split screen games 'a dead format' at Thanksgiving and I have not let it go
He sat there at the table in Columbus and said couch co-op died 10 years ago, that everyone plays online now, and honestly it bugged me more than it should have. So last month I pulled out a 2 player run and watched 4 people pass controllers around for 3 hours, laughing the whole time, while his online lobby sat half empty. Here is my stance: split screen is not dead, it is just harder to find because nobody advertises it anymore. Also a stack of 15 cheap 2 player picks beats one big release everyone plays alone in their own house. What is the one local game you still make people play when they come over?
Did you ever play Towerfall with four people on one couch? I used to be on your brother in law's side, figured nobody wanted to sit next to each other anymore with all the online stuff. Then I brought it to a friendsgiving and we lost two hours to it, yelling at the tv like kids. Now I keep it and a couple other small party games ready to go whenever people come by, because they always ask for one more round.
