Hot take: my brother and I stopped pausing to argue and started using the 2 minute rule
My brother and I used to burn half our Saturday nights fighting over which path to take in It Takes Two, and we would literally sit there for 10 minutes going back and forth. Last month at his place in Reno we made a rule: whoever is not holding the controller gets 2 minutes to make their case, then we just pick and move on. We finished the whole game in 3 sittings after that, and honestly the arguments were the worst part anyway. Anyone else got a system like this, or do you just let the better player decide everything?
Honestly used to be the "let the better player decide" type because I figured why slow things down, but my partner and I tried something close to this on Cuplike and it genuinely cut the bickering way down. Two minutes sounds about right too, long enough to actually say your piece, short enough that nobody digs in just to be stubborn. The funny thing is half the time we'd end up picking the same thing anyway once we had to say it out loud. Your point about the arguments being the worst part really lands, cause looking back the choices never mattered that much compared to losing a whole night.
