The weirdest thing happened with a perm at my chair yesterday
I had a regular come in for her usual perm yesterday at the shop in Tacoma. She's been getting the same formula for two years with no issues. This time the rods barely held a wave on one side and the other side curled fine. Has anyone else had a perm just decide to not work on half a head for no obvious reason?

Consider checking if the client had taken any ibuprofen or allergy meds before the appointment. Those can affect how the perm solution works on their hair sometimes.

Ugh, you are so right about this. It's something I never would have thought of on my own (like, why would medication affect hair chemicals?) but it makes total sense once you say it. Honestly, it's kind of a bummer because a lot of people pop an ibuprofen before an appointment if they're nervous or have a headache, and they have no idea it could mess things up. I feel bad for the stylists who have to figure out why a perm didn't take and the client is just sitting there confused. It's such a helpful tip to keep in the back pocket though, for real.
