Took 3 days to find a settings toggle that should have been labeled better

We use Procore for our commercial builds in Austin, and last month I spent almost 72 hours trying to figure out why our submittal approvals were going to the wrong person. I checked user roles, permissions, even re-invited the whole team. Turns out there is a tiny override field buried under the project settings tab that said 'additional approver' and someone had typed in a name from a job that closed two years ago. I almost called their support line and was ready to pay for a consultant. It took me three full days and a coworker casually mentioning it over lunch. Why do these software companies hide critical stuff like that in a menu nobody clicks? Has anyone else wasted that many hours on a single hidden setting that should have been named something like 'who actually gets this' instead of 'additional approver'?

Man, that is exactly how everything works these days... I swear software companies design menus like a maze on purpose. It's the same with my phone, I found a setting last week that controls whether my texts send as blue or green bubbles, buried under like four different sub-menus with some vague name like "message formatting options".
