Site plans went from chaos to clean in 3 weeks, all because of one PDF setting

Our field guys kept printing the same AutoCAD file with layers hidden, so the rebar layout looked like a toddler's scribble. Turns out someone had viewport overrides on, and once I fixed that at our Austin office, the subs stopped calling me at 6am asking where the footings were. Has anyone else had a plot style issue quietly wreck a whole project schedule?
