Compared my friend's $300 drone to my $80 one after 2 crashes
My buddy brought his DJI Mini over last Friday and we flew both in the same park. My cheap model dropped signal at 400 feet behind some trees, his held at 900. Also his camera stabilized so much better in the wind, I had to re-shoot every clip twice. I kept telling myself the price gap was just branding, but the video quality difference was obvious after 10 minutes. Has anyone else hit that point where the budget option stops being worth it, or am I just justifying the upgrade?

That line about re-shooting every clip twice hit home. My buddy went through the same thing with a cheap action cam, spent a whole weekend at the lake getting shaky footage, then borrowed a friend's GoPro and redid the entire trip two weeks later. He said the gas money and time off cost more than the camera would have. At some point the cheap one is just costing you in do-overs.
