Can we talk about the guy who swore the moon landing was filmed in a Nevada basement?

I ran into this older dude at a truck stop near Flagstaff about 2 months ago. He pulled out a photocopy of what he said was a leaked blueprint showing how they built a fake lunar set. When I asked why no whistleblower ever came forward with proof, he just said 'they're all dead or paid off.' He didn't have a single date or name on that paper, just scribbles. Has anyone else run into someone who had a 'secret document' that ended up being nothing?

That whole line about 'smoke and mirrors' really hits home. I had a similar thing happen with a co-worker years ago who swore he had a NASA employee badge from the Apollo era that proved 'they' were hiding something. He showed me a beat up old thing that looked like it came from a Halloween costume shop, no official markings or anything. When I asked how he got it, he just mumbled something about a guy at a gun show and changed the subject real fast. It's always the same pattern, a big story that falls apart the second you ask for one basic detail.

Funny you mention that, @wesleyjohnson. See, I actually think there's something to be said for people who cling to that stuff even when it's nonsense. Maybe they just want to feel like they're in on something the rest of us missed, even if it's a bad photocopy.

Man, I feel your pain on this one. I met a guy at a diner in Ohio who swore he had a real photo of the Apollo land rover being dropped from a cargo plane in the desert. Handed me a blurry printout that looked like it was from a 1990s sci-fi B-movie. When I asked him where the photo was taken or who took it, he just said 'classified' and got real quiet. Its always the same story with these folks, no concrete details, just a lot of smoke and mirrors. Your mileage may vary, but in my experience, if someone can't give you one solid fact, its probably not worth the paper its printed on.
