Pro tip: found out my PS5 was throttling because it was crammed in a cubby with no airflow
Spent like 2 hours trying to figure out why my games kept stuttering and crashing. Turns out my TV stand cubby was only 5 inches taller than the console and the vents had no room. Moved it to an open shelf and now it runs quiet again. Anyone else run into overheating issues from tight spaces?

I read the PS5 manual says it needs 4 inches of clearance on each side.

Yeah I actually had this same issue when I first got my PS5. I measured it out and 4 inches on each side is the real deal, especially for the exhaust side where all the hot air blows out. @uma_lopez you definitely want to avoid stacking anything near it or putting it in a tight cabinet. I learned the hard way after a few hours of heavy gaming and the fan started sounding like a jet engine. Just a heads up, even if the manual says 4 inches, you might want a little extra space if your room runs warm. Mine's on an open shelf with about 6 inches on each side and it's been running quiet ever since. Better safe than sorry with these newer consoles, they run hot.
