One random Tuesday showed me how crossplay changes everything

Last month I had a free afternoon and jumped into a co-op game with two strangers, one on Xbox and one on Switch. We spent three hours just talking through levels and sharing dumb jokes, no one cared what box we were on. It hit me that ten years ago this never would have happened, we would have been split into different lobbies or worse, arguing in forums. Now I actually look for games with full crossplay just so I can stay in touch with old friends who switched systems. Anyone else find themselves picking games based on who can join rather than the console exclusive lists?
