Cross-play brought my old group back together, but now solo is harder

I was sure cross-play would ruin matchmaking balance, especially in shooters where PC players have the edge. Last month my Xbox-only crew finally agreed to queue with our PlayStation friend, and it's been smooth 90% of the time. But now my solo lobbies feel sweatier since the pool merged, so has anyone else noticed that trade-off?
