Swapped my magnesium float for a resin one on a hot pour last week

Used to fight the sun every July with a magnesium float, burning my hands through the gloves and watching it drag. Picked up a resin float at a supply house in Tucson for 60 bucks and tried it on a 40-yard slab. It glides smoother and doesn't stick when the mix gets tacky. Anyone else switch materials depending on the heat, or do you just tough it out?

Funny you mention the heat thing, my cousin out in Vegas swears by those resin floats too, but he also puts a wet burlap sack over his magnesium one at lunch and lets it sit in the shade. Says it keeps the metal from warping during the afternoon bake, which I thought was just an old wives' tale until I saw his 3-year-old float still dead straight. I stuck with my mag for a pour last week and regretted it by hour two, my forearms felt like they got slapped by a hot pan. Might have to beg him for his trick next time the forecast hits triple digits.
