Stop bullfloating before the bleed water is gone

I see guys out in Phoenix jumping on the bullfloat while the slab still has that sheen everywhere. If you float too early you seal the bleed water in and you get that crusty, chalky finish that dusts off on your boots a week later. I learned this the hard way on a 4,000 square foot warehouse floor back in March, had to grind the whole thing down just to get a hard trowel. Wait until the water sheen breaks in patches, then hit it once, that's it. Has anyone else had to fix a dusting slab because someone rushed the float?

Read somewhere that crusting happens within 30 minutes in that desert heat.
