Hot take: Stretching my hands every morning saved my wrists.
I used to wake up with stiff, aching wrists after long days of troweling concrete. It got so bad I could barely grip my tools by the end of the week. Then I noticed an older finisher doing simple hand stretches before starting his shift. I decided to give it a try, just five minutes each morning before work. After a few days, the stiffness started to fade, and now I have way less pain. It seems like a small thing, but it made a huge difference in how I feel on the job. What do you do to take care of your hands and wrists?

Totally agree with this! As a carpenter, my hands take a beating too. Started doing a quick stretch routine in my truck before grabbing my tools. Just basic stuff, like making a tight fist and then spreading my fingers wide, and gently pulling each finger back. It feels silly at first, but wow does it help. That bit of morning movement makes the whole day easier on my joints. What kind of stretches does that finisher do?

Notice how the smartest habits prevent the biggest troubles. My friend who types all day started doing wrist rolls during coffee breaks, and her carpal tunnel never flared up again. It's that same principle, a tiny bit of care now saves a lot of pain later. We often ignore our bodies until something breaks, but these small routines are like oiling a hinge before it squeaks. Whether it's hands from troweling or knees from kneeling, that morning stretch is a quiet kind of wisdom.

Yeah, that tight fist and spread fingers move Dylan mentioned is key. I do that one, plus bending my wrist forward and back with my other hand, holding each for a good 30 seconds. It's not about being fancy, just getting the blood moving before you start gripping stuff all day.
