TIL that a clicking fan can mean a power supply is going bad
I had a desktop that kept shutting down randomly. After listening closely, the power supply fan was clicking, and replacing it fixed everything. How do you usually test for power supply problems?

Dealt with a similar thing last year. My PC would just freeze up, not even shut down. Tbh, I thought it was the GPU at first because the screen would go weird. Turns out it was the power supply struggling to keep up with a new graphics card I added. Ngl, I wasted a week troubleshooting everything else before checking the PSU.

Hold on, I see it differently lol. A clicking fan might just be dust or a bad bearing, not always the power supply dying. For random shutdowns, I first check the temps and event viewer. If those are fine, then I use a multimeter to test the power supply voltages. That way you know for sure instead of just guessing from the sound. Saved me from replacing good parts before.
