Just realized the cable guy in Omaha who told me to label both ends of every run was looking out for me
Six months ago I was wiring a small office build in Omaha and a tech from the cabling crew said to label both ends of every run, not just the patch panel side. I thought it was a waste of time since we had a spreadsheet, but I did it anyway. Last Tuesday a run went bad and I had to trace it through a ceiling full of other cables, and the tag at the desk end got me to the right one in under a minute. Now I keep a label maker in the van. Does anyone use a numbering scheme that holds up when the office layout changes?
