My signed copy of The Amazing Spider-Man #300 got a coffee ring at a con in Chicago
I was at C2E2 last year showing a friend my prized signed McFarlane book when someone bumped my elbow. A full cup of coffee splashed right onto the back cover. My heart just sank. I immediately blotted it with a napkin and then carefully used a tiny bit of distilled water on a cotton swab around the edge of the stain, which helped a lot. Has anyone else salvaged a comic from a major spill and have tips for the leftover faint ring?

Man, "my heart just sank"... it's a comic book, not a family photo. It's got a coffee ring now, that's just part of its story. People get so hung up on keeping things perfect. It's still the same book, same signatures. A little stain gives it some character, shows it was actually out in the world being enjoyed.

Honestly used to be that guy with my old vinyl records. Would freak out over the tiniest scratch. Then I saw my dad's beat up copy of Abbey Road, ring wear on the cover and a name written on the label in pen. That's the copy we actually listened to, you know? Now my favorite books have dog-eared pages and my guitar has a chip in the finish. Stuff just feels more real that way.

This happens with everything from cars to furniture now. People treat objects like museum pieces instead of things meant to be used. That fear of a mark or scratch just kills the actual joy of owning something.
