My LCS guy in Denver yanked a comic out of my pull box and I still can't decide if he was right
I was at Mile High Comics on a Saturday last month and the owner pulled a copy of a new #1 I'd had on my pull list for 8 weeks, holding it behind the counter while he told me my budget couldn't cover it and he'd rather sell it to a kid who'd actually read it. I stood there for a second, paid for my other stuff, and left, and now I can't figure out if a shop owner has any business deciding who's a real fan or if he was just looking out for me like he claimed. Should shops get to police who gets a pull box copy, or is that way out of line even if the guy thinks he's doing you a favor?
Does a shop owner get to say who counts as a real fan? I used to think that was way out of line, since you put the book on hold and it's yours, and the shop should honor that deal no matter what. But then I started thinking about how many pull boxes are just full of stuff people flip online, and a guy who's been running a shop for years can usually tell who's actually gonna read the thing.
