I finally realized how much cash I blew on variant cover speculation

Bought 15 copies of a 'hot' X-Men #1 variant at $40 each because a podcast said it would triple in value, but now it's selling for cover price. Lost about $500 sitting on a short box of identical comics nobody wants. What's the dumbest spec buy you ever made that actually tanked?

Oof, that's rough. I bought like ten copies of a "first appearance" of some random symbiote dog in a Venom comic. Paid $25 each because the hype was insane. They're basically worthless now, I use them as coasters.
