Dropped $80 on a 'mint condition' run of X-Men #1s and got burned
Saw a guy at a con in Portland selling X-Men #1 from 1991 in what he said was mint condition. Paid $80 for a full set of four covers. Got home and noticed spine ticks on three of them and a tiny crease on the corner. Checked online later and saw the same set goes for $20 on eBay. Now I always bring a magnifying glass and check everything under good light before handing over cash. Anyone else get tricked by a slick seller at a show?

Magnifying glass is a solid call, I learned that lesson after buying a "near mint" grail that turned out to have a coffee ring on it.
